Château Tanunda named in the Top 50 wineries of Australia for the fifth consecutive year!
Château Tanunda, Icon of the Barossa, has once again been recognised as one of the shining lights and consistent performers of the Australian wine industry by esteemed wine writer Huon Hooke. He has just named Château Tanunda in the Top 50 wineries of Australia for the 5th straight year.
Coming in at number 47 out of over 3000 wineries, Château Tanunda is rubbing shoulders with Yalumba, Hentley Farm, Torbreck, Henschke, Seppeltsfield and Penfolds as the leading Barossa wineries rounding out the Top 50.
Château Tanunda, established in 1890, is one of Australia’s most historically significant wineries and Australia’s original Château. The Château is privately owned by the Geber family, who have put their heart, soul and passion into hand-crafting some of the Barossa’s most collectable wines, with a focus on unique Old Vine Expressions of 150, 100 and 50 Year Old vines and famous Grand Barossa Shiraz.
Château Tanunda winemaking epitomises the finest that modern hand-crafted winemaking has to offer. Headed up by Chief Winemaker Neville Rowe, it is boutique winemaking of scale, using small open fermenters, gentle basket pressing and aging in the finest oak to ensure the unique qualities of the vines are embodied in the wines. Chateau Tanunda wines consistently attract worldwide recognition for their extraordinary quality.
Château Tanunda’s inclusion in the Top 50 Wineries of the Year by Huon Hooke continues what has been a stellar year for this iconic winery. In March, the Chateau was named “Best Australian Producer” for the 10th straight year at the world’s biggest wine show, the Berlin Wine Trophy 2022. Once again showing that consistency is key to performance.”
For a taste of some of our star wines, Château Tanunda will be at two of the upcoming The Real Review Top Wineries Tasting Events in Sydney and Melbourne.
