The 150 Year Old Vines Grenache is from one of the oldest known blocks of Grenache in the world, planted in 1858. This small block in the famous Stonegarden vineyard in the Eden Valley is home to classified ‘Ancestor’ vines, dry-grown as bush vines on their original rootstock.
Seamless floral and spicy complexities, with hints of forest fruits, Italian deli meats and ginger snap. The palate displays the full range of dark berries and Middle-Eastern spice with perfect balance between tannin texture and length.
The block yields just over 1 ton of grapes in the best of vintages, which are hand-picked into small picking baskets to optimise fruit health.

Fresh strawberry, red cherry, peppery flavours, fine slinky textures, lovely inky density and underlying roasted walnut nuance. Builds up crunchy and grippy at the finish. The vineyard resources in the Barossa are truly extraordinary and rarely are they
shown to such advantage as with this range from Château Tanunda. The Grenache
vines providing the fruit here, in the Stonegarden Vineyard in Eden Valley, were
planted in 1858. Low yielding, naturally, the wine spent a year and a half maturing
in a mix of new and older French oak. The wine has the additional benefit of coming
from an excellent vintage for the region. Only 700 bottles made. Under cork. A ruby/
crimson colour, the nose provides notes of strawberries, kirsch, wild raspberries,
dried herbs, tobacco leaves, charcuterie and aniseed. Gorgeous aromas they are,
and certainly a highlight, but the wine continues to impress on the palate, which
is seamless, supple and offers wonderful length. Fine line of acidity runs the full
journey, through to silky tannins. A brilliant Grenache for enjoying over the next
12–15 years. Drink now–2040

Bright crimson with aromas of satsuma plum, red and dark cherry and a flash of raspberry at the edges. Hints of ginger cake, purple flowers, Medina spice, cola, some subtle musk in the background, a touch of dried citrus rind and wood spice. These aromas transpose neatly over to the palate, which leans towards savoury, with layered spice and dried-meat tones, fine, silty tannins and a finish that lingers nicely.
