Mattiske Shiraz

A powerful traditional Barossa Shiraz grown around Mattiske Road in the Stonewell sub-region.

Tasting Notes

A rich and full-bodied wine that displays lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cracked black pepper supported by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate. The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins.

From premium Barossa Shiraz grapes grown around the Mattiske Road in the Stonewell sub-region of the Barossa Valley. The grapes were destemmed, but not crushed, and spent seven days on their skins in open fermenters to gently extract colour, flavours and tannins.

It's brightly fruited and nicely lifted on the nose, showing dark plum, cherry, tar, and assorted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's succulent and smooth. Well-rounded and fruit-forward with a lingering tasty finish. At its best: now to 2031.

A rich and generous full-bodied wine made with some good old-fashioned hands-on approach. Plenty of black fruits on the nose with a little chocolate and a smidgeon of blue fruit. There’s a lift of black pepper and some dried herbs. Lingering palate completes the wine with a flourish.
