Grand Barossa Shiraz 2022
$25.00 / bottle
All of the grapes are fermented in small batches to retain their sub-regional characters. After destemming, the wine ferments for 7 days on skins in small open fermenters and is hand plunged twice daily.
This encourages maximum extraction yet retains the dense, spicy fruit flavours that Shiraz is renowned for. The wine is gently basket pressed before spending up to 18 months in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barrels in our cellars.
TASTING NOTES
Grand Barossa Shiraz epitomises the premium international reputation for Shiraz which has made the Barossa Valley famous. Lifted aromas of blackberry, plum and black pepper are accompanied by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate.

Deep crimson. Pure ripe blackberry, cassis aromas with herb garden aniseed notes. Inky deep and flowing palate with generous ripe blackberry, blackcurrant fruits and superbly integrated tannins and savoury oak. Finishes inky, minerally and dry. Superb early drinking style. Punching well above its weight. Drink now–keep for a while.

It’s immediately appealing on the nose, showing blackberry, toasty oak, star anise and subtle vanilla aromas, leading to a generously flavoursome palate offering juicy fruit intensity with silky texture. Beautifully rounded and richly expressed. At its best: 2034.

Fermentation is by way of small batches, before basket pressing into a mix of new and older French and American barrels for a year and a half to mature.
A very dark bruised plum hue here. Bold aromas with chocolate, black cherries, spices, blackberries, warm earth after rain and coffee grinds. Good concentration throughout, this is supple, dense and yet balanced. A line of fine acidity runs the length and there are sleek tannins. An eight to ten year proposition. Terrific value.
The rest of the world must shake their collective heads and wonder how the region can offer wines of this quality for relative peanuts.

This is a thoroughly delicious Barossa shiraz. It’s more medium weight and there is less tannin and oak. But it’s all so balanced with loads of blackberry and spicy plum with a liberal dollop of syrupy chocolate. Fine slippery tannins and a decent oak contribution complete an excellent value wine.

Soft blackcurrant, black fruits, notes of violet, alongside savoury olive character, good level of spice and honest style.

This plush 2022 Shiraz Grand Barossa delivers a generous and open-knit blend of mulberry and blackberry aromas lifted by gentle touches of violets and spice. Good volume of plump dark cherry flavor with a gentle line of sandy tannins drawing out the finish. Good value. Drinking Window 2025 - 2031

Spicy and packed with ripe yet savoury red and black fruits with hints of fruitcake, vanilla pod, mocha, plum conserve, clove, pressed flowers, pepper and earth. There is a gentle flow of fruit, instantly recognisable as Barossa yet in a classic style, with subtle leather, tobacco and wood spice accents, fine, sandy tannins and a scatter of dried herbs on the exit.

Brown brick red colour. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, purple flowers, cracked black pepper, and cocoa and mint with a round crisp fruity medium-full body and a warming, amusing medium-long finish with accents of black cherry, leather, chocolate mint and purple fruit and pepper with chewy tannins and light oak flavour. Bold and juicy with layers of intense flavours to pair with grilled meats and especially lamb.
