Heritage Release Old Vine Shiraz 2024
$35.00 / bottle
A favourite of our wine club members, this heritage release wine comes from Barossa old vines of at least 35 years in age. Their worthiness has been proven over many vintages, consistently producing fruit for wines of distinction and longevity.
TASTING NOTES
All the hallmarks of great Barossa Old Vine Shiraz. Complexity, intensity and length. This old vine Shiraz is full of soft, dark cherry fruit, black berries and mocha flavors with rich notes of dark chocolate and subtle oak. The palate is textured and layered, with the dark berry fruit aromas again coming to the fore framed by silky tannins with a long, elegant finish.

As soon as you pour this into the glass, the colour is most striking. It's deep and dark, and virtually impenetrable. This is a medium-bodied wine, but still with plenty of fruit weight and intensity. It was basket pressed before it spent about 15 months in French and American oak, and I think that American oak really plays an important part, adding its slightly creamy vanilline texture to complement the spicy plummy notes of the variety. Cellar for sure if you wanted, but for me, drink in the next few years. It's thoroughly delightful. 8 Years Cellaring
