Newcastle Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre Cinsault
A limited release premium selection blend of meridional French varieties: Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre and Cinsault.
Tasting Notes
This blend celebrates the historic relationship between Chateau Tanunda, the Barossa Valley and its generations of grape growers and winemakers who love nothing more than to let their hair down and kick up their heels.
The Newcastle name shows strong attachments to both the Barossa and this wine blend. One of the father figures of the Barossa Valley, George Fife Angas, originated from the city of Newcastle in England. Furthermore, the "New"-"Castle" in French translates to "Chateauneuf", a tribute to the great red blends from the south of France.
Winemaking
The grapes were picked, fermented and matured separately spending ten months in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak barrels prior to blending.
For this limited release wine we selected meridional French varieties: Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinsault.
