Matthews Road Chardonnay
Tasting Notes
Matthews Road Chardonnay shows enticing aromas of citrus fruits, melon and white peach leading to bright tropical fruit flavours on the palate with a refreshing acidity. On the finish there are hints of vanilla and cashew nut from the partial new French oak barrel maturation.
Winemaking
To make the most of the cool ripening conditions late in the season, a trellis system that allows some manipulation of the canopy on the coolest years is employed. This is moved by hand and results in a perfect sun exposure for the tender Chardonnay grapes.
