The Château Single Vineyard ‘Bethanian’ Shiraz 2021

Dark and inky in the glass. Quite 'old school' aromas of plum, sweet, dusty oak, blackberry and a lick of eucalyptus. Full, rich and slurpy on the palate, full of dark fruits, sappy oak, spice and dark chocolate.

This is a wine that exhibits a distinctive subregional character from this area near the village of Bethany. It’s savoury with an earthy dark plummy fruit character. Smooth and seamlessly structured with firm though fine tannins and ample oak to balance and support. Nice mix of liqueured fruit and dark chocolate add to the layered complexity on the palate.

This is a grunty, grainy shiraz with sweet red- and black-berried fruit flavours rolling satisfyingly through the mouth. Malt, vanilla and cedarwood flavours are here too, though for the most part they’re tucked neatly into the fruit, as are gentle corn and smoked meat notes. This has turned out pretty well.
