Grand Barossa Chardonnay 2023
$25.00 / bottle
WINEMAKING
The grapes were picked early to retain freshness and acidity. A small portion of the Chardonnay was fermented in seasoned French oak adding depth, complexity and structure to the wine.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas of citrus fruits, melon and white peach lead to bright tropical fruit flavours on the palate with refreshing acidity. On the finish hints of vanilla and cashew nut are derived from partial new French oak barrel maturation.

Pristine and elegantly complex, the bouquet shows apricot, Gala apple, nougat and roasted cashew nuances, leading to a beautifully weighted palate offering creamy texture and bright acidity. Splendidly balanced and harmonious with a lingering, refined finish. At its best: now to 2029.

A percentage of the grapes harvested here spent time fermenting in older French oak with the intention of increasing the complexity of the wine, while maturation includes some new French barrels.
Deep yellow hue, this is poised and taut. We have notes of hay, citrus, peaches, a touch of nuts and the merest hint of oak dust. There is a supple palate which sees the peach characters come to the fore. Medium to good length, fine balance and underlying supporting acidity, this will provide pleasure over the next four to five years.

A neat example of chardonnay for short-term drinking. The aromas are a combination of melon and stone fruit with just a splash of citrus to lift. The palate is creamy and rich with a nice nutty stone fruit nuance. Has a crunchy lively feel and a long finish. Best in the short term.
