On behalf of Château Tanunda, producer of award-winning wines from the Barossa, Proprietor John Geber announced today that Neville Rowe has been appointed as Château Tanunda’s Senior Winemaker. Neville brings a wealth of experience to The Château, most recently from Hardys where he was responsible for the Eileen Hardy, Leasingham, Reynella and Tintara brands. Neville was previously General Manager of Sevenhill Cellars in the Clare Valley, another Australian historical treasure, General Manager and Winemaker at Mitchelton Wines in the Goulburn Valley and as Winemaker for Domaine Chandon in the Yarra Valley.

Neville Rowe says “I am very excited to have been offered the opportunity to join a world-class winery with such rich history and so much potential.”

John Geber is delighted with Neville Rowe’s appointment “Neville’s accomplishments and experience combined with his winemaking skill will suit The Château very well. With 125 years of winemaking many legends have honed their craft here and I am sure Neville will more than live up to his predecessors’ achievements. I’m really looking forward to the next chapter at Château Tanunda with such a passionate professional on board. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank former Château Tanunda winemaker Stuart Bourne whose hard work has seen Château Tanunda crowned Australian Wine Producer of the Year five times in six years at the Berlin Wine Trophy, a five red star rating in the James Halliday Australian Wine Companion and three Wine Spectator Top 100 selections in five years.”

Neville studied Wine Science at Charles Sturt University, and in addition to his Australian experience, he has worked Argentina, Burgundy, California and Champagne. When not at the winery, you can find Neville racing his catamaran, spending time with his daughters or hiking in Australia’s bushlands.
